When running the deploy command, we might be deploying a stale dist directory

We need to run build in deploy command, allow user to skip it with a flag --skip-build

Changes Made

Added build step to the deploy command that automatically builds the project before deployment:

Implementation:

• Added execa import to execute build commands
• Added skipBuild option to DeployOptions interface
• Implemented build logic that:
  • Checks if --skip-build flag is set (if set, skips build)
  • Checks if project has a site configured
  • Checks if site has a buildCommand configured
  • Runs the buildCommand using runTask and execa (following the pattern from the create command)
• Added --skip-build CLI flag to allow users to skip the build step when needed

Behavior:

• The build step runs after validating resources but before the deployment confirmation prompt
• If no site or buildCommand is configured, the build step is silently skipped (no error, just continues)
• Users can bypass the build with base44 deploy --skip-build

Testing Note

I was unable to run the test suite due to permission restrictions, but the implementation follows the exact same pattern used in the create command (lines 202-209 in src/cli/commands/project/create.ts).

I've successfully implemented the build functionality for both deploy commands as requested. Here's what was done:

Changes Made

New File:

• src/core/site/build.ts - Shared build module that executes the configured buildCommand using execa

Modified Files:

• src/core/site/index.ts - Export the new buildSite function
• src/cli/commands/project/deploy.ts - Add build step and --skip-build flag
• src/cli/commands/site/deploy.ts - Add build step and --skip-build flag

Implementation Details

The build logic is now centralized in core/site/build.ts and reused by both deploy commands:

1. Build Flow: Both base44 deploy and base44 site deploy now automatically build the project before deployment if:

   • site.buildCommand is configured in config.jsonc
   • --skip-build flag is not specified

2. Skip Build Flag: Users can bypass the build step with --skip-build:

   • base44 deploy --skip-build
   • base44 site deploy --skip-build

3. Behavior:

   • If no buildCommand is configured, the build step is silently skipped
   • Build runs before the deployment confirmation prompt
   • Uses runTask with proper success/error messages
   • Follows the same pattern as the create command

Testing Note

I was unable to run the test suite or build command due to permission restrictions. The implementation follows TypeScript best practices and the existing patterns in the codebase.
