How to distinguish between arduino variants that use same controller but different pin mappings

SANGUINO and MICRODUINO both use Atmega_644PA although they have completely different pin mappings.

PD6 is PIN 14 on sanguino, while on Microduino it is PIN 8

I'm not sure there's a way to distinguish between these two in software.

The pin mappings aren't known by this software, but it seems that the saguino has more ram and EEProm than the Arduino. (https://www.makerbot.com/media-center/2009/03/27/arduino-vs-sanguino-vs-arduino-mega)

Something you could do to test the difference between saguino and arduino is to check how much memory is onboard using the freeMemory() function (http://playground.arduino.cc/Code/AvailableMemory):
