Is it possible to use alternative names from the box?

There are a lot of standards. As I understand you use mainly ISO 639-1: Two-Letter Codes.

For example that I got from chatgpt there are: ISO 639-2, 639-3: Three-Letter Codes, ISO 639-5: Three-Letter Codes for Language Families, IETF Language Tags (RFC 5646), BCP 47: A Best Current Practice for Language Tags.

It would be nice to have them at least in alternative names field. Ideally to choose what exactly format from them will be be default in django settings.

Seems like it would be a good feature, but I haven't maintained this repo in a long time, I wonder if there is a fork that has kept up to date, when I built this we were on django 1.8 😱 , if there is that is probably the place to make this update.
