Let the column count be zero-indexed

As of right now, if you have the cursor at the beginning of the line, according to the status bar, it is column 1. This confuse me when I am trying to pay attention character count to maintain the style guideline. This issue has already been brought up at the atom core repository. atom/atom#11371 suggests to provide a toggle to change between zero-index and one-index.

Atom Version: Atom 1.6.2
OS and Version: Ubuntu 15.10

I'm not sure it makes sense to have a zero-indexed column count but a one-indexed row count. I would hope that both would be zero-indexed or one-indexed, not mix-and-match.
