function keys on hackers keyboard stopped working in 1.8.2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run connectbot 1.7.1 & hackers keyboard, enjoy F-keys on 'Fn'-alternate 
keyboard  :)
2. update to connectbot 1.8.2
3. F-keys now enter numeric digits instead :(

Downgraded via TiBackup to 1.7.1 & I can navigate MidnightCommander again.
