Feature Requests: Things I miss from other players

Hello! I'd like to start this with a huge thank you. I have not found a single music player for Linux that I've liked yet until I found this (they all feel very spreadsheet-y).
I'd like to give you some things I noticed I was missing from my Windows days, hopefully this helps development.
I apologize if any of these are taken as rude- I really appreciate what you are doing with this. I have no plans to stop using mtoc.

1. An in-app volume adjustment slider/dial (options?) would be wonderful. I understand I can just change the application volume, it's just the first thing I felt I missed.

2. A native favorites/liked playlist would be amazing! A simple heart/star button would do the trick IMHO, it'd just make my collection feel more personal without all the worry of a star rating (IRL, I have a separate shelf for favorites, maybe I am weird for this)

3. This is the biggest one- I saw you are aware some want this, so I do apologize, but I would love the ability to customize the album carousel. Here are some features I'd love to see personally- some may already be in the works.

• The ability to resize & move the album carousel (I found the size a little too big, especially on a normal 1080p 16:9 monitor)
• An option to switch the carousel to a vertically scroll-able grid view. I understand the carousel is a big feature of mtoc, and I do actually love it, but an iTunes-esque grid view is what I have been looking for in a Linux audio player (I came from MusicBee on Windows), and I think I am not alone. Just the option would be nice to have!
• A toggle in settings for effects like the blur & reflections. I don't want to touch 'em, but I know some will. Folks on super low-end hardware would definitely appreciate this one in particular.

4. Exit to tray would save my life, lol.

5. An option to add single-click playing when browsing an album's tracklist would be very nice.

Thanks for your kind words and the feedback, I really appreciate it. I'm so glad that you're liking the app.

1. Volume slider: there's the preamp adjustment in the settings window which sort of accomplishes this. I hear you though, it may be nice to have a more accessible slider in the main UI. Also this would take a different approach to the preamp, where instead of +/-15dB, it would go from 0dB max down to silence at the minimum. I'll play around with it to get it just right.
2. Favorites: agreed, this would be a nice feature. The star rating was originally omitted since the app takes a read-only approach to music files, and stars require writing track metadata. A favorites list would be fairly simple to implement in the database layer though. I'll add this to the todos.
3. I get this. The inspiration for the carousel was my best attempt at a faithful recreation of the cover flow feature from the iPod/iPhone back in the day, which I got kind of obsessed with. I agree that a scale option would be nice. As it is, the image dimensions and spacing are all hardcoded and the movement animations/angle calculations are tightly dependent on this. So it wasn't really designed for extensibility, lol. It's definitely a todo item down the line though.
   An iTunes/MusicBee-style grid view is definitely planned. This would probably replace the entire carousel + two column layout for the library with a whole new full-height layout where the tracklist expands under the album, like in iTunes.
   Alternatively, a straightforward album grid in place of the carousel could work with the existing two-column layout. Let me know your thoughts on this, I may end up doing both at some point.
   Blur & reflection toggle: this is a good suggestion. I will add it to the todos. Also an option for blur radius and quality, since you can get a performance benefit by reducing the radius and/or reducing the resolution of the image before the blur, at the cost of slightly grid-like appearance for certain images.
4. Agreed, exit to tray will be coming in the near future.
5. Also a good suggestion, a single-click to play option will be coming soon.

Of course- I appreciate the consideration.
For the alternate carousel options, I think the former of the two you mention would be best to implement first, but both down the line is an awesome goal and only helps more people. I've just seen more people looking for the iTunes grid.

As for how to handle said grid, what you mention is probably best TBH. It'd be cool to have a divide for a horizontally smaller side that shows things like a search bar & the currently playing song (with a smaller artwork above the name?). I also know nothing about what you're doing under the hood with this, and don't know how easy these things are to implement, so disregard if it's a pain.
