File operation "Move" missing in context menu

Hi,

I'm new here, and I have no idea which category would be appropriate (there's no "bug report" category or the like), and I think this omission might not be intentional, thus decided to use "General":

When using the context menu, there's no file operation "Move", only "Delete" and "Copy to".

RT does have the Move command, and it is actually a core feature of file operations (I would actually need it to cull my images, as I don't want to delete images, but move them to a subfolder "_trash" or the like, or might even want to move images "out of the way" by moving them to specific subfolders).

a quite unusual approach nowadays, reminds me of Unix (were rename is made with the mv command, as far as I remember). Works so far and feels quite practical, but I would suggest some improvements (in order of "importance" ;-)):

1. Change the menu name to "Rename/Move" to make this functionality clear to the "unsuspecting" user. (BTW, if you need/want support for the German language, I could be of help.)

2. Move the XMP file too, since this is part of the "bundle". (I tested on Linux. I didn't check if the Rename operation already does it. XnView MP has an interesting feature regarding sidecar files, as it includes JPEG and lets one define additional extensions.)

3. When first clicking on the folder selection for the move operation, use the current directory of the file browser (as is indicated by the "." on first use), not with some other folder. (I tested this on macOS, Windows and Linux, and it were totally different locations; opening the home folder in Linux was the most sensible of the three. ;-))

4. Related to point 3: The "Base directory:" is misleading, as it points to the last base directory, not the current (again, on Linux). This is shown in the "Preview" string, but this is not what I would expect. Didn't test it in RT.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see what I can do. Some of the things you ask are already possible.. it's true though that the documentation is not that extensive (to say the least :-)
One remark though: ART is not RT, and doesn't try to stay compatible with it. It was forked about 6.5 years ago, so "it doesn't work like RT" is not an argument I'm particularly sensitive about.

Understood! The differences are already "staggering", and ART is far beyond RT in every aspect I had a look at (I especially appreciate the vastly improved "Inspect" tab, and that the sliders in the various settings react to double click by resetting to the default value is very helpful). Since I started to use RT last year and only lately found out about ART, my comparisons should be rather seen as "observations" (or mild suggestions ;-)).

Regarding documentation -- I might be of help in this regard, as I did Technical Writing and Technical Documentation for a living for some time (not any more, though). But documentation is not what most users refer to anyways these days ... ;-)

When it comes to praise for ART: I forgot to mention "Single-click activation of file browser folders" -- it makes working in ART so much more fun (double-clicking to open a folder is rather unusual in a tree view, so I was very fast to click on this one when I found it ;-)).
