Dpgconv used to work, but since I updated to mencoder rev. 36285, it says "Transcoding video: done" directly (there is no percentage), then converts the audio (this seems to work), and finally it exits by telling that the file is empty:

There is no .dpg in the output directory; it seems to do this with all kinds of video files (tried .avi, .mp4, .flv)
If I downgrade to mencoder r35920, it works again.

Unfortunatelly debian wheezy/ubuntu 13.04 have a much older version of mencoder - r34540, so I can't reproduce this yet. As far as I can see what happens is: mencoder attempts to convert video / audio streams and report success, but mpeg_stat can't find MPEG end code in one of the streams, after which the script continues broken and finally removes the temporary files.

It could be that meaning of some flag has changed in mencoder, we could make the script produce more output to find out what's going on. But I'm not sure how to go about supporting both old and new versions of mencoder if the change proves to be incompatible.

The issue can be reproduced on Arch. The current mencoder version seems to have an issue with the 'cbp' option of lavc. If you remove it from the command, dpgconv works as expectec again.

Alternatively, you could use sed:

sed -i 's/cbp://' /usr/bin/dpgconv

I am not exactly sure what this option is good for, but I do not see any issues with the videos produced. Hope this is still helpful.
