Accessibility Permissions Not Working #155

Description

@jacktheplant
  • I couldn't find this bug described in a dedicated issue.
  • The bug persists in the latest release of MiddleClick.
  • I use a ProMotion-enabled (120Hz) display (built-in or external).
  • I use the app with a trackpad.
  • I use the app with a Magic Mouse.

Describe the bug
After restarting my MacBook this morning, suddenly MiddleClick is unable to access accessibility permissions. When I open the app, I am prompted to give it permissions, but when I enable then, it still says that accessibility permissions are missing. This results in the app not being able to do anything.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Restart MacBook
  2. Get notification that MiddleClick was not able to be verified as not a virus (for some reason - this has never happened)
  3. Open anyway through Privacy and Security
  4. Get prompted to enable accessibility permissions
  5. Open accessibility permissions and see that they are already enabled (as they have been for months)
  6. Disable and enable permissions
  7. Restart MacBook again
  8. Quit and reopen app
  9. Uninstall and re-install app (via homebrew and direct download)

Expected behavior
Tap with three fingers results in a middle click.

Environment info

  • macOS version: 26.0.1
  • MiddleClick version: 3.1.3
