does not work with mangohud

i attempted to use mangohud on hearts of iron 4 with the launch command sh ./cream.sh mangohud %command% which didn't seem to work.

sh ./cream.sh %command% works as expected but as soon as I try to launch it with mangohud the paradox launcher says that an error occured:

what can I do to make mangohud work? The game is opengl and not vulkan and so MANGOHUD=1 environment variable won't do anything

Ubuntu-based distro:
gnome-terminal -- sh -c "./cream.sh mangohud %command%; exec bash"

KDE or any other after installing konsole:
konsole --hold -e sh ./cream.sh mangohud %command%

I tried doing this, even the launcher isn't opening, and i can't see any logs in the game's folder, mine is Stellaris, same issue with the OP

It would be great if there was a one-time-use shell script. Mangohud works fine without the shell script
