Some users end up with more than one email address (maybe personal and work), or maybe they move institutions and they need to change.
Look into a way to add a "forward" address for an account. A process like this might work:
- User logs into old account
- Adds forwarding email, which sends confirmation email to old address
- User clicks confirm link
- System sends confirmation email to forwarding address
- User clicks 2nd confirmation link
- System reassigns all owned shares and permissions to forwarded account
If the original email address logs in, they will be notified that their shares have been forwarded.
If someone shares with the original email, it will actually share with the forwarded email instead.
If this happens seldomly enough, it might actually be better for users to request the admin to trigger the process (for added scrutiny), rather than be totally self service.
