Allow shares to have an expiration date, most likely defaulting to some period after creation. For shares that have an expiration date, enable automated emails to certain participants based on some schedule. Allow emailing based on a configurable number of weeks left, perhaps with a default such as:
- 6 weeks left
- 2 weeks left
A final email can be sent on expiration saying that the share has been marked for deletion.
Allow the user to extend the expiration date by a week if the expiration date has been met. This will at least keep them actively trying to obtain their data.
Not everyone should be getting reminder emails, so an extra "permission" may be necessary for "reminder emails".
Consider making the reminder email customizable.
