Keep the cursor position when going from viewing to editing

I'm reading org files from Dropbox in my tablet. Viewing works fine, but whenever I enter edit mode (pressing the pencil icon), the window presents the top of the file. I don't know whether this is the intended behavior, but it's rather annoying searching the file again in a very limited environment. Is there a save-excursion equivalent that I'm missing?

There isn't a cursor in viewing mode, so I presume you mean the scroll offset.

The difficulty is that the height of the rendered content in view mode is going to be different from the height of the raw markup, in fact sometimes extremely different. So I don't know of a good way to accomplish this.

A workaround would be to narrow to a particular section (long touch the section header) and then edit.
