USB camera?

Does this module work with a USB camera or only through a camera attached to the pi camera port? I have an old ps3 usb camera i'd like to use but am having trouble getting the module to work.

EDIT: The lights on my camera activate showing it is connected and if i unplug it the sleep function activates with no way of waking it up. It just never sleeps with the camera plugged in.
