Can APRStastic use a network connection instead of USB for Meshtastic node?

In the configuration file for APRStastic, a device such as /dev/acm0 is specified, which suggests a USB connection to the Meshtastic node. Is it possible to use a network connection instead of a USB cable for connecting to the Meshtastic node?
