Starting workspace

Would be cool if the starting workspace was restored from the last run of Rift. I saw something about serializing and loading a state file so is this already possible today?

what do you mean by starting workspace? like the most last workspace before close?

state file loading doesn't really work, i have a stash which adds a system to do state saving/loading much better but it needs a bit of work till it becomes viable to open a pr

Yes basically remember the "active" workspaces. That way if I have to restart it it doesn't disrupt the workspaces.

this may be possible in the future but a better way is to make use of app_rules imo:

essentially keeps everything in the right workspace all the time but maybe im using it very different to you..

Yes I'm using app_rules. Config: https://github.com/brianwk/dotfiles/blob/main/private_dot_config/rift/config.toml

I'm referring to this:

# If omitted, defaults to 0 (first workspace). Must be less than default_workspace_count.
# Uncomment to change:
# default_workspace = 0

When I'm helping to test the software and building a new version of Rift, it's disruptive when it swaps back to workspace 0 when I restart Rift.

Also I want to contribute but I have a lot of relearning to do when it comes to Rust.
