text / rich mode for ipython from a terminal

I often use ee from an ipython window in a terminal. Would be great to get eerepr to work with text + https://pypi.org/project/rich/

I have some starter code, but it's not working. I'll try to get it in a gist soon.

I love the idea of a terminal-friendly option using rich. I just quickly skimmed the Gist and I see that __rich_repr__ seems to be the equivalent of _repr_html_, but wasn't sure if that somehow renders by default (like you get with _repr_html_ in a notebook) or if it requires an explicit rich.print to display?

My only other concern would be performance, since the repr trees can obviously get pretty big and deeply nested. Rendering a collection with a couple hundred images is doable in HTML, so it would great to have similar capabilities in the terminal.
