Hi.

Can you enlighten me on some speculations regarding map plots.

I have been driving around with a node, set as tracker, as it should prioriteres position packets.
Node is set as smart gps broadcast and updates location every 500meters (0.3miles)

I have the app open and connected back home via VPN, so i can see what my node at home see.
I see my position gets updated every 500m or every 1000m in the meshtastic app.

At the same time i have a laptop that is connected to meshmonitor at home also via VPN.
Here there is a very long delay on updates, as long as 20-30min sometimes, before the "dot" moves.
So im guessing that's because the map is not updated that offen?.

I drive around with the tracker, to build up a coverage map with meshmanager.
However it seems meshmanager coverage map is only updated when meshmanager is.
So im missing a lot of datapoints for the coverage map, when comparing to the meshtastic app map.

Is this normal, or have a missed something in the setup ?

MeshManager will only update when it receives new data from a configured Source ( either a MeshMonitor instance or an MQTT stream ), and has some internal processing that can make it a bit behind realtime.

MeshMonitor's map does have some internal caching to improve UI framerate and reduce network load that might be causing what you're seeing. Have you tried turning on the Packet Monitor to see if it caught all the position packets? Or using the Position History view to see if the points were captured in teh history, but just not shown live?

I will try to pay attention to the packet monitor when doing the tests .

I checked the position history and they are plotted in meshmonitor, just not live updated.
But position history dont deliver the data to meshmonitor, only the live plots ?
That will explain why i only see a very few plots in the coverage map.
Driving known routes, i know there is excellent coverage, and i also see the updates in the meshtastic app, that is connected via the virtual node. But meshmanager only shows some sporadic plots, like the live map in meshmanager

In MeshManager, The Coverage Map only updates once every 24 hours, or when you click the "Generate Now" button. It's not meant to handle live-updates.
