I have solved the problem. I used the library for the as7262 and changed all the hex addresses to match that of the as7421. As far as the i2c, I found it important to use mosfets to match voltages; the as7421 uses 1.8 volts versus the 3.3 for most other sensors by AMS. I'm currently out of town for vacation but when I return home after the holidays, I can email you the library I made if you wish. Peace be with you!
