Steam Link not setting correct time after booting, ntp failing

Problem: 9 out of 10 times when I turn on the Steam Link it will be stuck in epoch time, the 1970's. As a result of this, native apps wont work, they are unable to make https connections.

This person thinks it may be because of a change in build 661 where the default time server of the Steam Link was changed:
