Documentation is broken

Here, I mean not only the actual documentation has broken links and pages, but also the GitHub actions appear broken. Things has decayed to the point where this has now risen to the level of an urgent problem.

Also, it is just incredibly difficult to find things; our documentation is like a twisty maze of passages, all alike.
