Skip AI Process/Enhancement for Quick words - sentences

Problem / Motivation

Sometimes not everything that we dictate from the macOS app needs to be enhanced. At times these are very short words or sentences like:

• Thank You
• Good Morning
• Right
• Yes
• No
• Yes

If the LLM prompt is running for Short words like this, then it takes more time just to even dictate or get the output for very short words, things like this.

Proposed Solution

Can we have an option to skip short dictation? Like, if the word count is less than 3 words or something, then we can just skip the entire AI enhancement as a toggle so that for quick words less than 3 words, then the AI enhancement is skipped. But if it's more than 3 words, then the AI enhancement is applied directly. Should this be done with a system setting, or should this be done with the AI prompt only?

Thanks for the suggestion! After considering this, I've decided not to implement this as a setting.

Reasoning:

• Adding a toggle + word count threshold increases settings complexity for a marginal benefit. Every new setting is cognitive load for users.
• The word count threshold is inherently arbitrary - "Write this as an email" is 5 words but needs LLM processing, while a 4-word phrase might not.
• A well-written LLM prompt will return short phrases like "Yes" or "Thank you" unchanged - the real cost is the network roundtrip, not the processing itself.
• For users where latency matters most, the better solution is using a faster LLM provider or disabling the prompt for specific profiles.
