[BUG] Release type for Discogs metadata and improve de-duplication

I'd like to have releases pulled from Discogs use their release type (Album, EP, Single, etc.) so that they appear in the correct release section in Lidarr.

Currently, all releases are flagged as "Album" which over-populates the Album section and makes somewhat of a mess of the display and release types.

In addition, it'd be super nice if there were an option and feature to try and lessen or entirely remove duplication when the same release is present on Musicbrainz. I haven't looked into this yet to see how it can be done, but thought I'd mention it here because I see a lot of duplication in my catalog.

I'm using a self-hosted Musicbrainz mirror.

Releases should already be correctly mapped. Can you provide an example of a release that is not correctly mapped? Master releases don't store format information, but individual releases should already contain this data.

I'm pretty confident it's universal across all artists. Every release pulled from Discogs ends up in the artist's Albums section instead of Singles, EP, etc.

The good news is that this doesn't seem to permanently damage the database.

Adjusting the priority values and/or threshold in the Metamix can make the extra items disappear on the next refresh/rescan.

I'll look at it as soon as I have time.
However, changing the priority shouldn't cause them to disappear, only disabling the source should do that. If the threshold doesn't match, they should be automatically reapplied without refreshing.

Hmm, all I did was adjust the priority values from 10, 20, 30 to the following (10, 30, 50):

And what you saw above cleaned up and changed to the following:

You are correct. I messed up the order, so setting it to a low priority removed it. At least that was an easy fix. However, I cannot reproduce the issue with EPs and singles in the album section.

It's happening in your example too. ABBA doesn't have 316 albums. :) If you expand that category you'll see a lot of stuff that doesn't belong in there.

I didn't mean to imply that EP and Singles categories would show 0, because they still get populated by MB releases.

This Artist comes directly from the Discogs API and contains only Discogs artist entries, no MB items are included. If the API returned "EP" or "Single" as the format, these are correctly mapped.
To verify if any mappings are missing, I’d need a specific example. I’ve reviewed numerous API responses for artists like ABBA, and whenever the format was listed as "Single," it was at least what I saw accurately mapped.
Is there a particular format you expected to see in the album list that’s currently missing? I only map what the API provides and "Album" is just the default.
