Error message when trying to install VMWARE Tools (any supported version) for Windows XP Guest)

I'm unable to proceed when selecting the VMWARE option for graphics

Why do you have the option even available if its going to be false hope? I'm not accusing you just wondering what's going on here? 😕

This program I only got it to work on Pro version of Windows at all. Nice idea of a program you have going there but it needs a LOOOOOT of help. I wish I knew enough programming to help.

You need to extract the graphics drivers from the VMware Tools and install them manually. If you don't want to do that, NTDEV has got you covered on the Internet Archive.

I got it from the internet archive already. I mounted the ISO then explored the folder for the setup file within XP and it spat me that error as it proceeded to install like normal so there isn't actually anything to 'extract' as far as I'm aware unless you mean I extract it on my host? Then I can't mount it on the guest which is the whole point.

You can install 7-Zip onto your guest to extract the files.

Apparantly, NTDEV removed his Windows Beta Collection which also contained the extracted drivers. However, as I still have them on my external hard drive, I could install them and now recommend that you switch to cirrus-vga for your Windows XP virtual machine.
