Some place with live informations about development would help contributors a lot.
In particular, a feature list is helpful. The issue tracker may help.
Maybe the github projects may help on that matter too but I haven't used them yet.
In particular, I am thinking of some kind of shared kanban board.
In the meanwhile, using discussions may help before implementing new features.
For example, implementing dark/light themes may be done at different levels.
One can choose the theme from the settings dialog or from a menu item.
The switch between light and dark themes should follow the ambient light whenever the OS requires it.
Moreover, some parts like the settings dialog need a more modern interface to allow for more settings.
Of course this can be discussed based on some pull request but sharing ideas and experience beforehand will certainly make the design more efficient.
Finally, knowing who is bakering the next amazing new feature seems motivating.
