Implement Attached Neighbour & Party Wall Detection #9

@jravani

Description

@jravani

Overview

City2TABULA currently processes each building independently and does not detect:

  1. Attached neighbouring buildings, or
  2. Party walls (shared structural walls between neighbours).

These features are required for:

  • Heating demand adjustments (shared-wall heat loss reduction)
  • Building classification
  • Urban morphology analysis
  • General spatial analysis of building blocks

This parent issue groups the entire feature set.
Implementation will be divided into two sub-issues:

Scope

This parent issue includes:

  • Designing the overall method
  • Ensuring consistent implementation across datasets (DE/NL/AT/CZ)
  • Defining required output attributes
  • Ensuring integration into the City2TABULA schema
  • Performance and validation considerations

The detailed implementations are tracked in the sub-issues.

Deliverables

  • Neighbour detection API/query available for pipeline
  • Party wall detection integrated into {schema}.{lod}_child_feature_surface
  • Documentation for both features
  • Validation strategy for noisy LoD2/LoD3 datasets
