python-ping as a replacement for icmplib?

The author of python-ping approached me at the Chemniter Linuxtage 2025 and we had a little chat. It might make sense to switch from icmplib. Let's look into this.

from a quick glance, python-ping looks very simple. It seems that without some extra work it cannot perform traceroutes, and needs some work to allow for #72

I like the idea of changing the protocol though, I was working in an infrastructure once that had a certain public network range that would drop all non-tcp packets immediately, and our go-to troubleshooting was always mtr --tcp (admittedly, that would need to be added to python-ping as well)
