Dear Coconut database team,
Firstly, let me thank you for the incredible effort in putting together this extremely useful resource.
I am contacting you because I noticed that whilst Coconut's curated dataset is under CC0 License (thank you!) some of the databases it uses have fairly restrictive non-commercial licences. For example, both NPatlas and KNApSAcK prohibit commercial use (without licensing, CC BY-NC 4.0). Since we would like to use Coconut for internal R&D at Mycolever, I would like to clarify a couple of things before we do so:
Is everything in the data download Natural Products (CSV format)https://coconut.s3.uni-jena.de/prod/downloads/2026-03/coconut_csv_lite-03-2026.zip under CC0 License? Or
2.
Do we have to exclude entries in the data which come exclusively from Databases with more restrictive licenses?
These question came to me after reading the sentence, "Every source on COCONUT comes with its own specific license." which means that some data in not freely available for use. However I struggling to identify which parts of the Coconut data or website I should review. Can I simply exclude certain collections?
Thank you for your assistance on this.
Best regards,
António
