Description
Abstract
Use the AMDC hardware commands to generate a PWM signal on channel 1 and measure it with an oscilloscope.
Approach
Measure the gate signals to the top and bottom switch using an oscilloscope.
- Take a screen capture when at least 4 cycles are shown and include the screen capture in the comments of this issue.
- Label which signal is for the top switch and which is for the bottom switch and use your cursors to confirm the duty ratios.
- 100 kHz PWM signal with a deadtime of 500 ns and duty ratio of 20%.
- 100 kHz PWM signal with a deadtime of 500 ns and duty ratio of 50%.
Hints:
- Use a DB9 breakout board like this to facilitate your measurement.
- You will want to review the Power Stack Interface document to understand which pins of the connector to measure with your oscilloscope.
- You may also find it useful to review the schematics for the version of the AMDC that you are using. You can find the schematics in the AMDC-Hardware repository within the revision folder of each released board.
- If you need a refresher on PWM, refer to session 1 of Plan for Fall 2023.
