auto complete

can you add this so vs code could be main IDE for connecting teradata?

Hi Ioranzur,

Enabling auto-complete with the default sqltools methodology actually causes 2+ minute load times (each reference lookup) when connecting to a sufficiently large database... As Teradata is often used by large enterprises, that will likely be the majority of the perspective user base.

I did have a plan to improve that by implementing a custom cache & lazy-load system. However, I've been overloaded with projects & life for quite some time. If you'd like to give it a shot, the boilerplate plan (very underdeveloped) I had for object caching is included in the source-code. I'm more than happy to do some testing and approve a PR if you're in a position to contribute this feature.

I agree, it would be fantastically helpful.

Hi Thanks for replying. I am a bi backhand developer so usually I'm writing SQL. Not sure I can actually handle with that by myself unless it's pretty simple. Do you have instructions to do that? Unfortunately I don't really have instructions - It's something that'd have to be developed and tested rather than an already-proven out framework or something semi-easily plugged in.

It is still on my to-do, it's just a matter of time and priorities... I'm sure you understand having about a million things all begging for your attention. :(
