Description
The profiles used in Country.tit files contain capacity factor values for solar and wind technologies, solar and wind zones.
For RoR, the profiles refer to capacity factor/normalized power output, which is a result of inflows and design parameters.
For reservoir hydro, they are normalized inflow series (i.e., take the inflow series in m3/s and divide by the maximum value to normalize to a value between 0 and 1).
Plant factor
Plant factor refers to maximum availability within a load region.
If the hydropower profiles are available, plant factor is 1.
If the hydropower/river technologies profiles are not available, plant factor is 0.5 (a flat profile with 0.5 capacity factor).
Solar PV technologies have 92% plant factor, CSP technologies 96% and wind technologies 83%. (8% losses assumed for solar PV, 4% solar CSP and 17% wind based on table 7 in this report.)
