might have nothing to do with the package but all to do with the current migration of industry to stronger SSL

upgraded to the latest sublime_text(Sublime Text Build 3211) and that seems to do it but my sublime text is stuck and when I try to do anything in the window an ANR dialogue pops up. I'm on kali(kali 5.3.0-kali)
