Mouse Over Tooltips

Hi,

Apologies if this is covered already.

is there a way to add custom tool tips to the script buttons? Currently when I mouse over the buttons I see the following text:

{undocumented operator}.

It would be great to be able to add some context to the scripts as often the name of the script is not quite enough to remind me how the scripts should be run. For example I have some scripts than run on a selection and some that do not.

Thanks for this excellent addon. I've returned to it because its the best and still works flawlessly.

Hi,

No, there is currently no way to add a description to a script button.
Seems like a usefule feature.
I will take a look at it on how to integrate it.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I was thinking it could be added to the #STB Header syntax. So something like:

#STB-Tooltip "This is my tooltip text"

python script...

Of course I am sure you would want the user to be able to add the tooltip via the N panel rather than editing .py script files directly. However, I'm happy to do so if that's an easier option.

OK, the feature is now live with Version 2.3.3.
You can now update this Extension.

The Tooltip can be added through the UI e.g. the Add or Edit button.
Or added through the #STB syntax in the first line of the script with:

#STB-Tooltip-"My cool Tooltip"
