Update [Personal]

Since we don't really have an official communication channel besides here, I just wanted to let you all know where I've been!

Unfortunately, I started a different job earlier this week, and I am moving into a new apartment on the 15th. It's had me really occupied and I haven't been able to put as much as I'd like to into this project yet. I will be back in full, fighting force once all the dust settles, though. My apologies.

I just wanted to let everyone know I was still around and I do not intend on giving up on the project.

I will probably update the server to the latest build tonight -- I know Blecki said it would break our rooms earlier, so I'll test it first!

Go ahead.. those areas are throw away areas anyway. Copy over palantine villa and the settings to start players there. There's so much new stuff it's worth it, and I need to see how you guys break it.

I have a job that keeps me rather busy; I've been thinking about things as I had time but haven't written anything in a while. I want to change that this weekend and give it at least an hour if nothing else (I'm hoping for more).

Also, I've been considering the idea of another way of chatting; a Google hangout? Something to make things a bit more personal between us?

Or, if we really want to dogfood, should we log on to the MUD together at a given time for five minutes to chat a bit with each other?

I don't like hangouts. I've had some bad experiences where groups have failed because we couldn't all be on at the same time, or we spent an hour working around technical problems and lag, for a five minute conversation.. We'd be better off with the mud, or just with a forum. I agree that github issues aren't the best option. Notice there's no tag for 'discussion'. It's nice to chat in real time; it's also nice to have a record of the discussion, and for everyone to be able to chime in in their own time.

On a side note, I definitely need you guys asking for features to give me ideas of what to work on.

"hangouts" is now a very generic term for Google. Anything that's a chat is
a hangout. There are really long-lived ones with multiple people and it's
just a text window. Like good ol' ICQ in a way.

The next benefit is that I can keep track of the hangout on my phone with
no additional setup.

But I do like the idea of just using the MUD.

If we do, I request a feature to display the last twenty or so lines of
channel history so we can read past conversations when we log in.

Okay, server is running the latest build now and players start in the Palantine Villa. Sorry it took so long. Hopefully I can get the network hooked up in my apartment soon.

Assembly error when trying to enter a room now. I'll try to debug it when I can, working from my phone is rough though. Not sure if I messed up the build process or Blecki can fix it!

I can't reproduce this locally. I really have no idea from the error message - EmitsLight most certainly is a type in namespace RMUD. Your server seems to be down at the moment so I can't investigate there. Please try this -

A) Make sure you have the latest version of the server.
B) Make sure you have the latest version of the database (Try the bed-and-breakfast branch... it's what I've got locally so it's what I know should work.)
C) Give me the entire error - I need to know what room it's trying to compile when it gives you those errors!

There's another possibility - you've somehow changed the working directory. It must be the same directory as the exe because the compiler needs to add that exe as a reference when it compiles the database object.
