"Find Filters" feature does not work

Both buttons "find Filters" do not work any more,
Possibly after updating to from Thunderbird 128 to 140.
Currently I am running 140.1 on win10

I did a 1st test using the context menu from the folder tree. It seems to work when the folder is selected (is the current folder) but not if we right-click on a different folder. Obviously I am not passing through the message id in this case. From the main button popup menu (tools >> find filters) it does work for me (because this was designed with the current folder in mind anyway)

to dig deeper you can enable debg mode on quickFilters settings / advanced. by right-clicking Debug Mode you can add these switches for more details during the search:

you can then see full detail in JS error console (Ctrl+Shift+J). No screenshots of logs please, use the right-click / copy all messages to capture it (resetting the log before the test helps too):

I have added #313 for fixing this general problem (context menu items only working with current folder not the clicked folder)

I can specify the error now, It is a very different reason! I have 19 different  mail-accounts running, that are mapped to 4 local-accounts. Each of the 4 local-accounts runs different filters, located in different filterrules-files. Though a mail or a folder in local-account A is selected, the filterrules-file from B is operated. It is always this file which is operated, whatever i do. Thus a wrong filter is displayed as corresponding, it is always the same. Best Hartmut

It is supposed to find all filters that move mail to the folder (regardless of which account they come from). Did you check the drop down for multiple results?

Hi, I checked the drop down. The selected mail comes from ***@***.*** and goes to ***@***.*** It is located in my Inbox Local-HS. Yes, so you get 4 matches for filters moving or copying mail to the folder thats *ons-IT moves mail to.
The dropdown with the search results in the toolbar on top is expected to:

1 select the correct server (where your matching filter is stored
2 prefill the search field box with the filter name you selected

Looks like both things fail in your case. I know the method of jumping to the correct filter is kind of basic but it generally works quite well. Can you check for errors in js error console when you select a result?

Not sure if there is a special debug switch for filter searching, but i can check that later when I am back in the office.

… aand just scrolling up i see i alReady told you. There is a dedicated switch debug.filterSearch and debug.filterSearch.detail for tracking down steps your installation does when it searches for matches… you can send me the log file off github for extra privacy then you won’t have to edit all the contents, I am strictly NDA on any of your mail data, just interested in finding & fixing bugs in my Addons than snooping data.

However i feel the problem might actually happen when selecting an item from the dropdown,so this may be a lot faster to track- especially if there is an exception happening in console. You will see it immediately and it makes troubleshooting 20 times faster.

FilterButton is a very useful Plugin:

It presents you in a drop down menue. all filter-headings active on an selected email.
So you can decide, which filter you want to apply.
The plugin was just updated to work on TB 140.
Indeed, it works again, I did not know that it generates error while doing this.

I dectivated it, the error-message is no longer generated.
Nevertheless, Ithe problem with "find Filters" stays the same ...

PS: this fuctionality would be fine in Qu!ckFilters 😂
