support for pydicom deid "recipes"

Pydicom has become kind of "the standard" tool for working with DICOM in python, and it looks like you're leveraging it in your code. I've noticed that their de-id project https://github.com/pydicom/deid is picking up some traction on Github as well. Do you see any opportunities to more tightly integrate or align your effort with theirs?

One idea I had was that it could be useful if your project supported the same recipe/script format for specifying what to do with tags so that you're working towards a common standard rather than diverging approaches if that's not already something you're doing.

The python RSNA anonymizer uses the CTP anonymizer script file format and provides the CTP default script last provided by the Java version. I think this script format could be simplified and the the de-id recipe file does seem more succinct.

The de-id project as part of pydicom does not provide a GUI and users are assumed proficient in python and familiar with DICOM. It does not provide a DICOM SCP server or a query & retrieve interface to receive or retrieve files to be anonymized.

Integrating the controller component of the two projects could potentially be worthwhile if CTP backward compatibility is not required.

No, a subset of the CTP functions are currently implemented.
