Revist the work to reduce formatting and refactor lvm

https://github.com/RSE-Cambridge/data-acc/commit/5567c092d4c9e1211a98246314afe9acafcea120 and https://github.com/RSE-Cambridge/data-acc/commit/8c02d2f75151e6493b4fec8d13c4e8dfb19bad29 were reverted to fix some issues with failed clean ups. Needs more work.
