How to reset timer back to 00:00?

Currently if I pause the timer it sets the 'Start Timer at' to the last paused time and then if I try to reset it to 00:00 it would reset to that time instead. How to easily reset to 00:00 and start over a new run?

The easiest way I can think of is simply manually changing "Start Timer at" back to 0:00. It is a little bit inconvenient, but doesn't take much time. But it won't really work if you have splits. If you reset the timer to 0, it'll start from 0, but it'll still skip to your last split which is probably not what you want.

Now, I could bind the reset button to "reset the run completely", but I don't think this is the right approach either. What if you want to practise a segment over and over again? You don't want to reset to 0, you want to reset to the start of the segment.

Also, since this component still works with empty splits only, what would be the desired effect of resetting? "Start Timer at" goes to 0, okay, but what about split times? Erase them and keep golds? Something different?

For me as a user I found I wanted an easy way to reset the timer to 0, as that was how it was working previously. I start a run, I don't like how it's going, I'd like to start a new one. I hit reset and it doesn't work as I was expecting it.

Don't get me wrong, I do love the save functionality so I'd still use it even if it's inconvenient to reset. And you don't have any obligation to change it. Just giving my 2 cents that that behaviour was very unexpected and initally I thought it wasn't intented.

In terms of what my expectation is how it should work - as it normally does. If I hit the reset button it asks me whether I want to save those times (if I have beaten some of them).

Don't worry, it is a proper feature request, I'm just trying to figure out your use case. You say you start a new run, reset it, but the timer doesn't go back to 0. That means you paused somewhere during the attempt. That raises a question - why? Is it allowed in the category you're speedrunning?

You see, if we simply reset everything, it'd make it impossible to practise a particular segment which a valid use case if you're learning a new game, for example. I have an idea that might work, but I'll need to test it first.

I'm pausing it so I can pee :D This is during practice runs and not real runs. Most categories don't allow saving as well but it is nice to have for when you want to practice longer runs.

For reference, I'm practicing Path of Exile lvl90-100 runs which might take anywhere from 11 hours to 80 hours. I'm using the timer to compare different strategies, not to actually record a speedrun. Though there are also shorter speedruns where people submit runs.

Alright, but imagine the following situation: you're done with the first segment, so you saved your time and splits by pausing. The next time you want to work on the second segment and practise it at least a few times (without losing your times for the first segment). So what would you expect the reset button to do in this case - completely reset everything or go back to the second segment?

In the case you mentioned, I read it as you're using the timer just to time some segments (levels?) individually multiple times and compare the results. I don't really see why you would need the pause functionality here. So if you don't need it in this case then maybe remove it from the layout? And add it to the layout where you need it?

Personally I'd still prefer to be able to pause and reset the whole thing because:

• My segments are sometimes really long, like many hours in between.
• Even during shorter segments, stuff happens, I want to be able to pause and continue without disrupting the segments.
• I have never needed the functionallity to practice a particular segment since in Path of Exile you cannot reset to a previous point. For example you reach lvl50, you cannot go back to lvl40 and practice lvl40-lvl50 at all. So personally I will never need this functionality in this game. So reset to previous segment isn't useful at all here.

Then to be honest I don't see why you need the functionality of this component at all. Isn't the default pause enough for your case?

Mostly because:

• I want to turn off my computer (not sleep, which is buggy on my machine for some reason and never works properly). This is the biggest one.
• Also if I want to pause for 2-3 hours and still use computer - I need to go to layout settings and untick 'always on top'. Then put it back on when resuming.

With this tool I can just pause and quit the timer without thinking about any of those, which is great.
