To ensure consistency and reduce cognitive effort across apps/devices for end-users to understand notifications/alerts about the status of BIMI/signed URLs, should there be consistent language?

Some initial suggestions:

• For the BIMI VMC:

  • Verified Entity: This term conveys that the entity has been authenticated and is official, regardless of whether it's - for example - a corporate brand, public sector agency, or educational institution.
  • Unverified Entity: Indicates that the entity's identity could not be confirmed.

• For the Signed URL or Data:

  • Trusted Information: This phrase indicates that the content or link is secure and has been verified, assuring users that it's safe to proceed.
  • Untrusted Information: Suggests that the content or link is not secure or could be unreliable.

• Example uses:

  • "This is Trusted Information from a Verified Entity."
  • "Caution: This is Untrusted Information but from a Verified Entity."
  • "Caution: This is Trusted Information but from an Unverified Entity."
  • "Warning: This is Untrusted Information from an Unverified Entity."
