Description
Description
The current sitemap.xml provides basic coverage but lacks several modern SEO and accessibility optimizations. Improving it would make the site more discoverable, structured, and search-engine friendly.
This enhancement will involve refining sitemap tags, updating URLs, and ensuring compatibility with current web standards.
Expected behavior
Sitemap should include all critical routes and be easily readable.
Proper XML namespaces and updated timestamps should be present.
Search engines should index pages more efficiently after deployment.
Actual behavior
Sitemap lacks namespace declarations for extended compatibility.
Some pages have outdated last modified dates.
No coverage for help/error pages and potential new routes.
Inconsistent indentation and readability issues.
Possible Solution
Add xhtml, image, and news namespaces for SEO scalability.
Update for all pages to reflect current activity.
Include additional routes like /help, /404, and /contributors.
Adjust priorities and change frequencies for better search ranking signals.
Validate XML against the W3C Schema and Search Console tools.
