Require higher version of Stata?

Right now we require Stata 11 for odkmeta itself and Stata 9 for the odkmeta do-file. Are we able to require a higher version?

I doubt that there are many organizations running odkmeta in Stata 11 but the odkmeta do-file in Stata 9 or 10. That makes me think that if we bump the required Stata version for odkmeta, we would probably require the same version for the do-file. Requiring a single version would help us avoid slight differences across versions.

• If we required Stata 12, that would help us implement Option to read XLSForm as Excel file #26 and Add support for -import delimited- #7.
• If we required Stata 13, that would allow us to use strLs and avoid the 245-character limit on strings. Doing so would simplify the code in a few places.
• If we required Stata 14, that would help us implement Unicode support #42.

@internetlindsey, do you know what versions of Stata are common within IPA/J-PAL? Do you know if there is any Stata 11 usage within IPA/J-PAL?

We're currently considering requiring Stata 13. Stata 11/12 usage seems to be low these days, and it seems reasonable to require the user to be on one of the last three versions of Stata.
