Does this work with multiplexers

So, I have the problem of needing 20 touch points. Unfortunately there aren't that many pins on the esp32.
My question is: If I use 3 8 - channel analog multiplexer, would I be able to just select the first plate, check for touch, select the next plate, and contiune? I'd just tell the multiplexer to connect to a different plate.

Would that work?
