hotspot install appears to break the raspi-config menu and wipes out existing wlan settings

preconfigure OS image with rpi imager tool, configure wireless.

Run build on wireless only, dev build, trunk

Upon reboot the hotspot comes up, able to log-in to the the hotspot correctly, but being wifi was already running, it should not have used the hotspot, but rather the WLAN connection previously configured

Tried running raspi-config and get an error that the tool is unable to communicate.

Confirmed the wpa_supplicant has the country code set, but no wlan settings.

the unit is setup for first reboot to come back as a hotspot with the new code it seems. its easy to reset will outline : I get no raspi-config error. I neeed further info.

Reset wifi raspi-config > Advanced Options #5 > AA > Select Network Manager > back to main menu > #1 > S1 enter ssid and password when prompted . > reboot and your wifi is set for your network. and the hospot is disabled unit it no longer sees your network

Other fix is after a wifi based install unplug sd and plug into pc and add the wpa_supplicant.conf to /boot partition to override the wifif
