Feature Request: ComptonCameraActor for GATE 10 (OpenGATE)

Hi GATE developers,
Thank you for all your great work on GATE 10!
I'm currently working on Compton camera simulations and noticed that the ComptonCameraActor (CCMod) from GATE 9.x is not yet available in GATE 10.
In GATE 9.x, CCMod provides essential features like:

Scatterer/absorber detector definitions
Full digitizer chain (adder, clustering, blurring, DoI)
Coincidence sorting and sequence reconstruction
Comprehensive output trees

I would love to migrate my simulations to GATE 10 to benefit from the Python interface and improved workflow, but this feature is critical for my work.
Could you please share:

Is there a plan or timeline for adding Compton camera support to GATE 10?
Any recommended workarounds in the meantime?

I'd also be happy to contribute or help test if that would be useful.

Hi ! Thanks for this remarks, indeed we are currently working on a CCMOD version for Gate10. It is still WIP however. Note that, with the current version, you can already describe any scatterer/absorbed and attach same or different digitizer with the list of attributes that you need. It should already cover most of the needs.

The remaining part is the coincidences/sequencing policies. We are working on this currently. You can see a PR: #852

Just to clarify: when you mention “the current version”, do you mean that in OpenGATE 10.0.3 most scatterer and absorber definitions for a Compton camera can already be implemented, even though there is no dedicated ComptonCameraActor yet?

I could not find a Compton camera–specific actor similar to CCMod in GATE 9.x. Could you please indicate which actor/module (or example file) should be used instead?

Also, regarding coincidences and sequencing: should we expect any reconstruction-related support to be included in GATE 10 in the future? As far as I know, this was not directly available in GATE 9.x either.

Hi,

• yes most, of scatterer and abs can be already done, you can get inspiration from the PR I think. Create all your geometrical elements (as many scat/abs you need, with the shape you want). Then add a phase-space or a digitizer chain (like pet/spect) to get data.
• your choice : one single phsp/digi for all elements, or one per element
• however, the coincidences sorting is still work in progress. There is already a very simple (called "ideal") one, but you probably may want more.
• for the reconstruction, good new: yes ! We are working on a interface GATE-to Coresi. Coresi : https://github.com/CoReSi-SPECT/coresi is an open source Compton Camera reconstruction soft.
