Hi Stefano, We already have the adjoint formalism implemented in OpenSn. I will likely add a small tutorial for the adjoint method very soon, so that people do not have to scavenge the regression suite to find an adjoint example. We have great interest in supplying a deterministic solution for WWG and we talked with the OpenMC folks about it. It is worth pursuing for sure. However, our uncollided flux algorithm will not be in the code until this Fall. This uncollided flux approach, which is applicable to both forward and adjoint solutions, may be critical in getting good importance maps for WWG. Email us directly if you want to discuss more. Best, |

Hello, everyone,
I was wondering if there is any workscope or initial idea aiming at using OpenSn to perform variance reduction for OpenMC in the context of fusion and shielding analysis applications. Currently, there is some research on the use of random ray https://docs.openmc.org/en/stable/usersguide/variance_reduction.html, but it could be interesting to compare random ray vs. Sn performance.
Best,
Stefano
