SaveAs inconsistancy

If I am in foo.py and I go to File / Save As to XRP it acts differently than the new file dialog. 

If I don't put in any extension it tells me "Filename is used, please choose a different name!" which is odd

For consistency can we add in the File Type dropdown and pre-select the file type to be the type that we the Save As is coming from?
