the funny thing is that the way openai turned into a for profit and set a president for like every other company stupidly including scratch which seeems very close to doing it they started the ai hype and they saw they could scrape a few bucks off it so they turned into ClosedAI, and now every company wants to join in on the overhyped overdelusional crap |

also they might be "non profit" so they technically can't have investors in the traditional way, but they do have donors writing them big fat checks just for shoving AI where nobody wants it. it's like a competition. "Who can shove AI into the most crevices in a way that nobody asked for and annoys people?" |

rant about scratch 4.0, the worst update to scratch ever, which may make scratch go bankrupt from legal trouble:
the year is 2024. the scratch foundation partners with some corporae bulgarian ai company i forgot the name of and announces scratch 4.0 with generative "creative" AI in a j*b listing.
things only got worse. while some ai uses such as face sensing were definitely interesting, scratch is using the cute sensor as a distraction from the reality of 4.0. i myself posted on the forums wanting scratch 4.0 to be released ASAP before chatgpt was a thing and the hype for ai wasn't even an atom big.
in 2026, scratch decided to light itself on fire and become the very thing it swore to destroy. they updated their terms of service and made the worst decision ever made in the history of scratch. they can now use your projects and other things for training artificial intelligence models. there is no opt-out. this is illegal under multiple laws across the entire world. scratch decided to catch hype cycles instead of caring about their data. their entire privacy policy is a lie.
your projects are NOT cc-by-sa. they are now under the Official Scratch License, as i call it. Scratch has the right to train your projects on AI. you only have the right to modify others' projects ON SCRATCH, turning packaging a Scratch project using TurboWarp with attribution from a perfectly legal thing into rampant piracy.
if only i was on scratch before mr foundation took it over, but at least i was there before it went rogue. in 2021 they actually cared about humans because there WAS no ai to invest in. now there is, because in 2022, ai hype exploded overnight thanks to openai. it got even bigger thanks to microslop and sloople.
maybe this is why Scratch lost so many employees? they might become a profit public company soon. no way I'm gonna invest in ticker SCRH... scratch was never designed with AI models in mind. the scratch foundation decided to go and implement them. not because it would "help kids", but because of FOMO. they traded the risk of potentially having to go 18+ with catching hype cycles. stupid.
it's not really the Scratch Team to blame though. whoever came up with these dumb ideas doesn't even use scratch, and i can tell clearly. the membership is a problem too.
this gives me the feeling scratch has...
stupid investors. investors are dumber than 9 yaer olds and are the reaon why roblox removed dynamic faces and added stupid face verification. since the investors own stock, the company will have to either implement their suggestions or their stock will fall.
this is why you shouldn't go public. yes, scratch is currently a private non-profit, but with the direction they're going, they're crossing the line drawn in the sand for non-profit organisations in the USA and almost anywhere else.
remember, scratch 4.0 is the programming language that would be in 1984.
THE MORAL
you either die as a hero like Scratch 1.x and 2.0 did, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain, like Scratch 3.0 did. and when a villain is born as a robot, like Scratch 4.0 will be, they will replace humans with robots.
