Hi everyone,
I’m seeing a strange behavior in Excel version 2508 and later version when any Office.js add-in is enabled.
I have selected cell and scroll away so the cell is off-screen. When I switch to another window (Outlook, Edge, another Excel file, etc.) and return to Excel, the viewport automatically jumps back to the active cell, even if that cell was off-screen.
This does NOT happen:
in Excel 2507, even with the add-in enabled
in native Excel (no add-in loaded)
So it seems specific to Excel 2508 and later versions + Office.js add-ins.
Steps to reproduce issue:
Enable any add-in
Select a cell
Scroll away so the cell is off-screen
Switch to another app
Switch back to Excel → viewport jumps back to the active cell
What I’ve checked:
No onActivate, selectionChanged, select(), activate(), load() calls happening on focus
No unexpected context.sync()
Issue only appears starting Excel 2508 and also 2510
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior in Excel 2508+ with an add-in?
And does anyone know if Excel changed how it handles focus, window activation, or selection events in this build?
Any insights would be really helpful.
