Configuration file not secure

Any malicious code in configuration file can affect the system. Check (and remove) code other than configuration variables while reading.

Since the script is installed in ~/.local , the script itself is unsafe. Assuming the script will not be a target, keeping the installation to .local only and closing this issue.
