Description
We should pick a more specific phrase instead of "etc" in these two cases:
Vote eligibility
This is for people whose official contributions are not all visible in the NixOS GitHub organisation, but have contributed roughly the equivalent of 25 commits, also counting contributions such as: ... listing including "etc.".
and
Conflict of Interest (CoI) Balance
In case of doubts on what constitutes the same CoI (subsidiaries, grants, part-time work, etc.), .
During the formation of the NCA I gave this feedback and was mildly dismayed when the constitution included it.
Why should we amend it? "etc" gives the impression of an unbounded and uncertain list. In both of these cases, it's not needed.
In the voting eligibility section, remove the "etc" and reword the following sentence from:
After the decisions on exception requests are made, the list of approved requests is also made public.
to the following:
The EC has the sole right to decide to make a decision on eligibility. After a decision on an exception request is made, the approved request is to be made public.
In the CoI section, replace the sentence above with this:
The election committee decides what constitutes a Conflict of Interest, and is charged with understanding whether specific situations are or are not conflicts.
The examples lead away from what's most important: the role of the election committee.
